OST problem - outlook 2003

Having some serious problem, one of my users cannot receive or send mail. Error message keeps reading over the size limit etc  when you open outlook 2003.   the exchange Team have relax size restriction on the mailbox  but still having this message come up.
Turns out .OST file is about 2GB and I have a feeling this might be the cause of the problem.  What is the best way around this?
