How do I move an Exchange 2003 server.
We have several offices in the UK all linked via a vpls wan,
all are running the same 2003 internal domain
ie
company.local
We have numerous .co.uk domains which we own and route the email into our main exchange server
at Office 1
which is a 2003 standard exchange server and Domain Controller.
It runs OWA and RPC over HTTPS along with sharepoint services on it.
We have one other 2003 exchange server in one other office,
HOWEVER this is not used,
it has no mailboxes on it and nothing is routed through it, infact at the moment that office is not even connected to the wan so is totally disconnected from the company.local
but will be reconnected before it tombstones eventually.
For reasons outside my power the powers that be want to move the main exchange server with all mailboxes etc from
Office 1
to
Office 2
some 100 miles away.
My question is with a mailstore of over 60gigs is it easier to
A/ physically move this server up to office 2 with all the complications and considerations that go with this as it is a DC with sharepoint and OWA and RPC over https.
or
B/ Bring up a new Exchange server at Office 2 and transfer all the mailboxes OWA etc etc onto this server at office 2 and remove the main exchange from Office 1 after this has being tried and tested and verified as working for some weeks.
C/ Outsource the entire exchange server and owa etc etc to an external company so we have no internal exchange server at office 1.
I appreciate its an open ended question but is a very important project for us and need some expert advice on this
Thanks
