Mail for Exchange - cannot connect/synchronize

Tags: Microsoft, Exchange Server, 2003, Missing Protocol Version Header. Reverting to EAS 2.0 / Unable to process Server Response -- KErrCorrupt

I've been pulling my hair out (what's left of it:) a couple of days now, trying to get our mobiles (Nokia N73 and N95 8 GB) to synchronize with our Exchange 2003 Server (SBS 2003). We're getting these errors in the mobile log:
Missing Protocol Version Header. Reverting to EAS 2.0
and then
Unable to process Server Response -- KErrCorrupt

Know for a fact the problem is at the Exchange server/SBS, because both mobiles connects just fine to another Exchsange server/SBS. Exchange SP2 is installed.
Tried to disable Forms Based Authentication (MS KB 817379), doesn't solve the problem..
Also tried to temporarily allow all traffic on the firewall.
There are NO entries (with source = Exchange or ActiveSync) in the application log or system log at the server.
