Disable NDRs

Asked by lrkwalkers in Exchange Email Server, Email Servers, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)

I would like to disable NDRs.  I have unchecked "Allow non-delivery reports"  under ESM -> Internet Message Format -> Default Properties -> Advanced tab.

I then restarted the SMTP and MS Exchange Routing Engine Services.

If I send an internal email to a non-existent account, I still get an NDR:


Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

      Subject:      test
      Sent:      3/06/2008 12:05 PM

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

      nonuser@domain.com on 3/06/2008 12:05 PM
            The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to.  Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.
            <mailserver.domain.com #5.1.1>
