The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Exchange Server forwarding to Blackberrys occasionally causes repetiitive Messages

Asked by encoad in Exchange Email Server, Active Directory, Blackberry Operating System

We do  not have a Blackberry Enterprise Server.  (too expensive)  Instead for each of our blackberry users, we create a contact in Active Directory and forward all of the users messages to the contact which has the username@rogers.blackberry.net address.  This generally works quite well.

Occasionally however, users will complain of receiving thousands of the same message to their blackberry.  This occurs about once a week to a single user for a single message.  (we have 40 BB users)  When I look into the Exchange System Manager, I can clearly see that the message has several hundred Retries.  (though not the thousands that the users report - no surprise)

My impression is that our server is sending the message, Blackberry is receiving it, but not confirming the reception and therefore our Server feels that there was an error and it was never really received.   Eventually the message is delivered correctly and the repeating messages stop by themself.  Alternatively, I can manually delete the offending message in ESM.  Sometimes the messages are very large (7+mb), other times only a few kilobytes in size.

Event logs contain no warnings or errors.  Our internet connect is not congested.  (100mbit fiber).  This problem only exists when communicating with Blackberry and no other domains.  Blackberry and Rogers "have never heard of this problem", though I see that others online that are experiencing the problem as well.  (with no posted resolution).

Any help would be appreciated!
