Sending SMTP Mail from Axis 70U Document Server over Exchange 5.5?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but our office set up an Axis 70U Scan server (http://www.axis.com/products/axis_70u/).  We run Exchange 5.5 and I'm trying to set it up to send mail, but I think the SMTP/IMAP is causing problems, as the specifications say nothing about IMAP/Exchange.

Would it be possible to use an SMTP Connector? (I understand it's called something different in 5.5).  Under what conditions would this product actually work?  (It's supposed to scan and email the document to a pre-programmed email address)

Again, sorry for the dumb question.  I've done a ton of searching but I'm a little unexperienced with Exchange administration.  Any pointers you could give me would be great.  ThanksStart Free Trial
