Using HTC Touch with Exchange 2007

Hi,

I am trying to get my HTC Touch Dual to work with exchange 2007 but keep getting an error. The latest error being:

"The server could not be reached. This could be caused by temporary network conditions" Support Code: 0x80072EE2

I have turned of SSL requirement server side and can connect to OWA from outside just using http now (did this because i was using the auto generated cert, i have requested a proper one from CA but want to get it working like this first.)

Can i be to do with the fact that when connecting to OWA the url owa.mycompany.com has to have the /owa on the end? If i don't put owa.mycompany.com/owa i get IIS Under construction page

Normally with these smartphone devices all you have to do is to start the Activsync wizard, put in the server address (which should be how you access it from the outside...eg mail.domain.com), put in your domain username and password as well as your domain (domain.com), and you're pretty much done. I believe that the server address has to correspond to the domain name that the cert is registered to...for example if the cert is just to www.domain.com, then you would use that.

You shouldn't need anything after the server name like /owa.  I have the same setup here and when I am accessing OWA from the outside, I need to specify something after the domain name, but don't when I am setting up smartphones.

Well i havent any certs setup yet and did use the wizard and am getting the above errors
If you are accessing OWA from the outside and are using http and NOT httpS, then the connection is not secure and SSL probably isn't coming into play since there is no SSL cert set up.

Not sure that's the best thing to do, but...if that's how you're running you might need to make sure that SSL is NOT turned on in your phone and if you just activated it on Exchange you might need to turn it off there as well.

Thanks Denver, i will try that. I actually removed the self assigned cert to setup my new cert request so i will wait for that to go through. Wasn't aware it wouldn't work without a cert.
I have several 2007 systems using PDA's etc., GoDaddy has the easiest route to a UCC cert, and the cheapest I've found too.
Ok, hopefully you can help with this then, i have been asked to add a cname record to my domain to show that i control the domain, no problem. But when i add it they keep saying i have done it wrong. They have given me a unique reference to add to one side on the record but i also need to put an entry on the other side if that makes any sense? I have to add the entry to my primary domain because they want to verify that the primary domain in owa.primarydomain.com is actually mine.

I will try a show below.

Something Here      Record Type       Something Here

                                  CNAME

I know the unique ref needs to go in one side but i don't know which one?
anyone?
Cheers Dude
Not sure I understand what you're needing here with your CNAME record.  It almost sounds like you need either a Reverse DNS entry, or possibly an SPF, or both.

CNAMES are not really needed for anything, they just appear friendlier...
