Unable to restore Information Store backup of one server to another server in same org.

Asked by Darylx in Exchange Email Server, Windows 2003 Server

Tags: , ,

Hi,

I have two exchange 2003 servers in the same organization.  I can move mailboxes from server1 to server2.  I want to have server2 as a backup in case server1 fails so I'm testing the recovery procedure.

I have a backup of the information store from server1 using NTbackup.

When I try to restore this backup to server2, it fails with the following error:

Failed to find a database to restore to from the Microsoft Active Directory.
Storage Group specified on the backup media is e726140c-3b2d-4a49-93a4-198a2f45ffb0.
Database specified on backup media is Mailbox Store (CMSEXCHANGE), error is 0xc7fe1f42.

Can anyone tell me the basic steps required to restore the database to server2?Start Free Trial
