How do I set up a relay in Exchange 2007?

Asked by KentWatchlight in Exchange Email Server, Unix Operating Systems, Internet & Email Software

I have three servers running Unix.  They are proprietary servers that run the interface software for our signal operators.  We have recently started a system where this system will automatically email the customer whenever there are signals coming from their equipment.

Problem is, these emails are being sent as "exapmle.noname.nodomain" and as a result, many emails are being caught up in spam and junk email filters as a result.

What I would like to do is set up a relay in exchange, so that emails coming from these boxes are sent to the exchange server & then forwarded to the internet, but without having to create email boxes for each Unix server.  I understand that in doing so, the Exchange server will rename these email addresses to reflect the email domain the exchange is on, instead of "noname.nodomain".  It is importnant to note that there will be no return trtaffic to these servers.  Outgoing email only.

Can this be done? If so, how do I do it?Start Free Trial
