Out of Office Assistant " Your Out of Office settings cannot be displayed, because the server is currently unabailable. try again later"

We have a new installation of Exchange 2007 all clients have Outlook 2007. Out of Office Assistants works in OWA but not though Outlook. We have a certificate from GoDaddy that is correct and we have DNS entries for autodiscover. I have checked the permissions in IIS for the EWS and Autodiscover virtual directories and they all look fine. Test email Autoconfiguration also checks out OK. All clients are joined to the domain.

Yes, I have checked that already. One thing about this site is the certificate only has public names. All the services were changed to use the external name instead of the internal name. Somebody in the past when naming the domain named it with a .com name that they do not own. Their public name is different.
Here is something new i found. This is the output for test-outlookwebservices user | fl

Id : 1003
Type : Information
Message : About to test AutoDiscover with the e-mail address Administrator@city
clubatriverranch.com.
Id : 1013
Type : Error
Message : When contacting https://mail.cityclubatriverranch.com/autodiscover/au
todiscover.xml received the error The remote server returned an error
: (401) Unauthorized.
Id : 1006
Type : Error
Message : The Autodiscover service could not be contacted.
Hmmm...sounds like your autodiscover VD isn't started? Here is another great article to look over (again, if you haven't already)...just to retrace your cert install, etc. Have you tried to place the same URL in each of your services? (OWA, OAB, & AD)
I  tested OOF from my house using Outlook Anywhere and it works fine.

In the blog above they change the internaluri to a .local address do I have to do this or can I leave it with the FQDN?
I would go ahead and try it with the local address. It won't hurt to test it; if it fails, you can always change it back. Let me know...
