Problems accessing Outlook Web Access Externally

We have a Windows 2003 standard server with Exchange 2003.  The server is only a few months old and as far as I know, we have always had this problem.

If I am on the internal network or vpn'ing in, I can access Outlook Web Mail fine by typing in the https://192.168.57.2/exchange (internal IP of server).

But if I am trying to access it externally (using https://externalip/exhange) I can't access it with internet explorer 7.  I have tried Firefox 3 and IE 6, and they both seem to be able to access it fine.  

If I try using IE7 or IE8 beta externally, the page just times out.  Every web browser works fine internally.  Start Free Trial
