Not yet. We're still digging out of the domain migration hole so it hasn't been a top priority as it's not affecting operations, but it having a major impact on our backup strategy.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsWe migrated from one domain to another over the weekend which included migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. The public folders were exported to PST and copied from Outlook to the Exchange 2007 via Outlook. Those PSTs were a total of 3GB themselves, but we now have a 600+GB public folder store and 750 GB of log files with space running out in quick fashion. I'm currently making a backup of the public folders to (hopefully) clear out and remove the logs.
Just a side note, there are two servers in this environment and we are replicating the public folders between them.
Any thoughts or ideas why we see this crazy size increase?
Thanks,
Bg

We had the same problem and after a lot of digging with Microsoft we discover that it is related to the single instance in Exchange 2007.
In early versions of Exchange the single instance in Public folder was on the Messages, now in Exchange 2007 the single instance is on the Attachments.
another issue is the Page size that increased from 4Kb to 8Kb.
in my case the Public folder increased 3 times its size !
I cant find the formula to calculate it.. sorry..
I found an issue to mine. We use Enterprise Vault to archive our e-mail, however it tends to have issues deleting e-mails correctly so it leaves corrupted whitespace.
So every few weeks I have to dismount my store, run isinteg on it, then a defrag and i recoup my "wasted" space.
Given my situation and this one, i wonder if it's an EXCH 2007 Bug and not an EVault problem like i thought in my situation.

Did you ever get a resolution on this? I'm having a similar issue where my numbers don't add up.
