Pros and Cons of hosting Exchange In-House
I have to submit a proposal to have Exchange hosted in-house. I need as many Pros and Cons as I can get.
Right now, this is what I have:
Pros:
1. Full control and management over every aspect of Email services.
2. One-off capital cost for server hardware and software
3. Data is secure
4. Flexibility with accounts
5. Spam and Virus control
6. Integrated with Active Directory
7. Great support
Cons:
1. Maintenance upkeep
2. Time Consuming to setup as compared with third-party hosting
3. One point of failure (for a one-server solution)
Again, I would like to have more to put here, but I'm not sure what I am missing, if anything at all. So, all the pros and cons you can think of...
We have looked at third party hosting as well, but of course, i favor this solution just because I want it in-house.... but I need more than that!
The solution I'm proposing is attached....
Thanks in advance for you help!

I would argue the point about cost too - while hosted exchange looks cheaper, it will work out more expensive over the longer term.
I would be looking at SBS or EBS 2008, it will be a cheap entry point.
The main reason to go hosted over internal is support - if you know exchange and can manage it, then that kills that
