Can't Delete Public Folder Database

We created a Public Folder database on our Active/Passive mailbox cluster. It is in the same "First Storage Group" as our mailbox database. The cluster resource for the Public Folder Database was deleted from Cluster Administrator.

Now we cannot delete the Public Folder Database from Exchange Management Console:
--------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Exchange Error
--------------------------------------------------------
The public folder database 'Public Folder Database' cannot be deleted.

Public Folder Database
Failed
Error:
Exchange is unable to check the public folder replicas for "mailboxes\First Storage Group\Public Folder Database". Verify the Microsoft Information Store service is running on MAILBOXES.domain, and that the database is properly mounted.

MapiExceptionMdbOffline: Unable to determine if the store has local replicas (hr=0x80004005, ec=1142)
--------------------------------------------------------
OK
--------------------------------------------------------

We cannot mount the database because it errors with the following message:
--------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Exchange Error
--------------------------------------------------------
Failed to mount database 'Public Folder Database'.

Public Folder Database
Failed
Error:
Cluster Common Failure Exception: The cluster resource 704e6a5a-e31d-46b3-a525-c4f94749ba6b was not found in cluster group mailboxes.
--------------------------------------------------------
OK

How can we get rid of this Public Folder database which contains no data without harming our Exchange install or our Mailbox database?

ASKER

The problem with all the above solutions is it requires me to be able to mount the database. I cannot mount the database as Exchange does not see the corresponding cluster resource. All commands in the above articles give the same error as when trying to delete it. The database is not mounted. There is no data in this database, no folders were made.

Worked perfectly and we were able to go on and create a new Public Folder Database the correct way.
