The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Delayed updates and conflicts in public folders

Asked by srnowacki in Exchange Email Server, SBS Small Business Server

My environment:

OneSBS 2003 R2 server with Exchange 2003 SP2 running on it.

I have 25 laptops that access the server over a wireless network connection in the office. All of those computers are usually running and connected to Outlook with 3 or more Outlook windows open on each computer.

Half of the workstations are running Outlook with Cached Mode and the other half have it disabled.

There are 15 public folders that these users are all accessing and updating at the same time. One of those folders has 6200 contact records in it, this is the most commonly used folder.

We're having two issues that I think are related:

1. Changes made to Public folders are not updating on all computers right away. It sometimes takes as much as 15 minutes for an update or new appointment or contact to show up on all computers.

2. Many many update conflicts are occurring on the contacts. The user and the administrator are getting error messages from the public folders store showing a series of saved updates to a contact.

We switched from hosted Exchange using RPC/HTTP and accessing shared contacts and calendars to an in-house system using Exchange and public folders. The hosted service never had these issues.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm trying to placate a bunch of not happy users.

Thanks,

Scott
