Is there a way to slipstream Exchange 2007 SP1 post update 3 install original install binaries

I got a real problem here. I am trying to rebuild a Cluster running the command setup.com /recovercms but the install is failing with the message below:

Performing Microsoft Exchange Server Prerequisite Check

Clustered Mailbox Role Checks    ......................... FAILED
You must perform disaster recovery using the same version of Exchange as the last installed ve
rsion. The current installed version is '8.1.291.2', the last installed version was '8.1.240.6'.

The Exchange Server Setup operation did not complete. For more information, visit http://support.mi
crosoft.com and enter the Error ID.

Exchange Server setup encountered an error.

I don't know what its talking about! I am using the exact same binaries I used to build the server to begin with. Its located on the local C: drive. Its telling me the current version is 8.1.291.2 but that is because I have since installed post SP1 Update 3, but I am using the same source files as the original install. Is this some kind of bug or what? Luckily, this is a VM test environment. If I had to rebuild my production I would be in real trouble. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is there some kind of work around for this!

Yeah, I did read through that. Not sure if that was my problem or a good solution. I have decided that instead of trying to slipstream any service pack files, I can just uninstall the Update 3 option and put the server back to the base configuration.
