Question

HTC Touch Pro Microsoft Exchange Server Error 0x80072EE2

Asked by: firemedic3087

I have a HTC Touch Pro from Sprint.  About one week ago, my exchange server started acting up.  While my phone is plugged into my computer via USB cable, or connected to a WiFi network, it syncs just fine with my exchange server.  However when trying to sync over the air (Sprint Data Network) it fails with the Error Code of 0x80072EE2.  It does not matter whether I plug the phone into the computer first, or not.  In general, over the air does not work.

Occasionally it will work over the air for a few hours, but then it will go back to the same old error above.

I have followed Microsoft's support regarding this error in changing the DnsCacheEnable to 0, with no resolution.  Any other help would be great.  Thanks.

Through much trial and error I found a fix! - Go to
Settings/Connections/Connections and choose Advanced settings. Click the
Select Networks button and choose 'My ISP' under the drop down box for
'Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect
using.....'

Check the proxy settings on the device. Mine had picked up the proxy server that was set on my laptop for the corporate network and was trying to use it when syncing over Verizon's broadband connection. Once I reconfigured the appropriate connection on the 700w not to use a proxy server, this error was resolved.

After changing the connection to "My ISP" the exchange server worked, until I shut the phone off at night.  When I turned the phone back on this morning the same error come back on and the exchange server wont sync at all, either before or after being plugged in to the computer.  I also had removed that DnsCacheEnable registery prior to this thread because it wasn't working, should I put it back on, and also how do I check the proxy settings?   And any other ideas?

I believe I have found the solution.

If your Touch Pro is using the Touch Flo 3D software like mine is, the the weather tab is automatically set to download weather data as needed.  I have found that the weather tab using the data, and the exchange server trying to use the data causes the problem.  All you have to do is uncheck the box for automatic weather download.  This can be done on the weather tab.  Click menu, settings, and uncheck the box for "download weather automatically".

Every thing now works for me just fine.  All I have to do is update the weather manually every time I want it updated.
