Remove Exchange 2007 from Active Directory Using ADSIEDIT
Our server died and is unrecoverable. How can I remove the exchange attributes using ADSI EDIT from the organization?

Can I simply bring up new servers with the same names and use the Exchange \recover switches?

Wanna recover or reinstall?

The servers died. ultimately want to uninstall the servers. i am under the impression i have to recover the servers and then uninstall since the servers cannot be access as they are dead and the drives are damaged.
Don't you have backups to be able to recover? If not so delete the mentioned section and your AD will go to a situation as like there haven't been any exchanges installed.

i dont care about the data and no, i do not have a backup.
Mestha, when I do this, do i need to intall the same roles on each server that I had in the environment? I had hub transport and client access roles on one server, and then a clustered mailbox server.
essentially i have to rebuild three machines.

It depends what has failed.
If you have more than one server that has gone then you will have to do the recover server for each one. You might get away with using the same machine each time, but that could confuse the domain. It is PHYSICAL servers you need to remove.
If it was a complete cluster then you may have to recover the complete cluster before removing it - I will have to confess I haven't tried recoverserver method with a cluster (cluster failure is not that common) - but it is the only way to remove Exchange from the domain gracefully.
Of course this is where a VM is very handy, as it is easy to setup multiple systems.
You don't select what parts to install. Recoverserver should do everything for you. I haven't done one this year yet and my memory is a little hazy.

I am going to use this for the CAS and hub transport:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123496(printer).aspx
and i will use this for the clustered mailboxes:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124095.aspx
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123496(printer).aspx

As I don't have access to a domain with exchange installed now, can't tell the exact path but without any stress delete any section and it's hierarchy named with Microsoft Exchange.
Good Luck
