Exchange 2007 server replacement

I have an Exchange server 2007 running on Windows 2008 x64. The server has had some hardware failures and we have decided to retire it.
I have installed a new server with Windows 2008, installed Exchange 2007 and joined the organization fine. Public folders are replicated as well. Mail flow is also fine.
I need to uninstall Exchange 2007 from the failing server.
I understand the steps I have to take for the un-installation. Only one question remains, All public folders are replicated on the new server. I can also see the folders on the one to be retired.
Will the remove replicas command for Public Folders on the old server be enough to continue with the un-installation of the server?

Remove replicas should be enough.
If you want to be cautious though, you could just remove the replica from each folder manually. I have done that a few times to ensure things work correctly before going through the script route.

I imagine I can do that from the console. If remove manually each one, Do I have to do it for each Deafult Public Folder and Sytem Folder?
Would I have to remove the replicaiton partner on the new server before removing the folders from the old server,  so they do not get replicated back?
