Grub - no boot to CD Rom

I am unable to boot to cdrom on my laptop, and BIOS options aren't helping. I currently have Fedora Core 4 installed, but want to install XP again. I hear I can modify the menu.lst file to add the CDROM as a boot option in Grub but I am unsure what to enter in. Can someone please tell me exactly what to modify in this file (and if this is the correct location).

Hello,

When you computer boots up you should see an option that will allow you to see
your boot options e.g. sometimes you can press F5, F8, ESC which will bring up the
boot options that are supported.

You need to press the the key your BIOS supports before the GRUB boot loader loads.

You can also go into your BIOS and set the CDROM to be the first boot option

The abstract is that you download a small image and add it to the grub entries. This image is a small environment that lets you choose which device you want to boot from, cd included.

Well, I find that very strange that BIOS options are not helping this could indicate that the CD he is
trying to boot from is damaged or the CDROM itself is damage.

I ripped grub out and everything is fine now. Thanks for your input!
