I have a friend who is in litigation with his company. He recently explained to me that he thinks certain key individuals are spying on his confidential e-mails. One indication of this was that read receipts of these key individuals showed up in the inbox of a person sending a message to my friend. I'm interested in receiving the advice from the experts on the follow:
1. Is there a mechanism in Microsoft Exchange that will forward e-mails to and from a certain account to other people?
2. What approach would you take to prove this is happening?
3. If you have any experience with corporate e-mail spying any advice or feedback you have would be appreciated.

With respect, IMHO it is pointless to look at the rules. The bottom line is, if your employer wants to read
your email, it is very easy for your employer to do so. Thus, if your friend wishes to keep his/her
correspondence private, then your friend must avoid using company resources for that correspondence.

Hello jbauer22,
I am not an Exchange expert, so without being able to elaborate on specifics, yes, it is quite easy for admins
to tap into your email.
As far as "confidential" email goes, in the US you should pretty much assume that you have zero right to privacy
when you use your employer's computer equipment and/or network. With very few exceptions, your employer
has the right to review any mail you send or receive from your company account, for any reason or for no reason
at all.
