The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Need help moving a DC and Exchange

Asked by Network_Padawan in Exchange Email Server, Miscellaneous Networking, Windows 95 - 98 Networking

This is a two-part question. We have a box located at my Head Office. Head Office IP is 10.152.0.0/25 Domain Controller IP is 10.152.0.104. Now, exchange is ALSO on this box, which I hate for a number of reasons. I want to move these services to a new server and locate it in the colocation with the rest of our servers instead of the basement as it is now. I also want to take exchange and place it on a completely new box.

Now, Our LAN subnet at the co-lo is 10.0.8.0/24. Is this going to be an issue? I guess Im a little confused as to how the PC's will now know where to look for its new DC IP. Also, what steps should I take? Do I demote the current DC (we have no backup DC, something I will configure at the end) and then promote a new server box at the colo?

With exchange, I am guessing all I need to do is install the software on a new box, reconfigure and migrate the mailboxes across. Is that it? What migration tools would you use for migrating the accounts from one machine to another and can they be done across wan sites?

Thanks all I know there are like half a dozen questions in there but I dont really know even how to begin. Thanks
