Exch2003 - Setup Failed While Installing Sub-Component Information Store Service
Greeting Experts!
I have a good one for you this time! Its giving me quite an headach!
Here's the complete story :
So i got to install a new sbs 2003 server in an environement without any DC.
My collegues setup the server in our little workshop and they go throught the sbs setup without asking anyone. So the domain name was misconfigured and i had to bring the Domain down and dcpromo it again. Since then i've got alot of trouble with exchange.
I've tryed to uninstall it, /forestprep + /domainprep it again, reinstall. It didnt work;
I've trying to uninstall all IIS component as listed here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320202/en-us
and reinstall exchange 2003. Again, unsucessful.
All the permission seems ok, (Exchange groups contain the administrator user and they are in the active directory), i've looked at the MDBDATA security and everyting is alright there too.
Thought i reinstall it several time, it never completly succeed. But one thing i wonder, is that i never saw the question about Where to install the MDBDATA and logs ; like you usually got at a fresh install. It might be the problems since these folders were installed in a another partition.
---
So at this moment, i'm at the point where i've followed all this
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320202/en-us
but i get stuck , AGAIN, in the installation process with the follow error
"Setup Failed While Installing Sub-Component Information Store Service"
(BTW if i press cancel and continue trought the setup it will continue but the information store service will not start with error code 0)
heres the error logs `

How many other services are successfully running on that server at the moment? The reason I ask, I had a similar problem with the client, and after several days of "doing it his way", I finally just backed the sucker up and Reimaged from factory disks. Yes, I had to rejoin all the workstations to the domain again, but it worked that time. :)

i thought about this but i would like to proceed without dealing with the integration of all the workstations again ;(
let me know if you guys find any turn around for this issue ;/
please!!!

Oh and to answer your question, all the other service run sucessfully..
I had problems with the Exchange system Attendant but it was fix by one of my unsucessful resintallation...
The routing engine didnt work either.
SMTP NNTP and any other work great. Well.. at least start!
