Office 2003 password proteced files

Using the domain administrator logon 'im having troubles copying office 2003 password proteced files stored on a windows 2003 server to another location. The error is "access denied" i have tried taking ownenership of the files and all permissions are set correctly for the folder administrator. Any ideas would be greatful.

are you sure that the file is not in use by any of your users?
can you rename the file or not?

There are dozens of proteced files and knowone using the file and i'm unable to rename the file.

just checked renaming file and it can be renamed but cannot be copied

and what about CUT / Paste then?

but anyway, this realy looks like file permissions are not set correctly. plz double ensure the administrator realy has full access, also, check that you are not giving rights only to local admin but the domain admin, cause i guess your logged on with the domain admin.

i can cut and paste on the same drive, but it will not cut and paste to another drive or netowrk share with the same permisisons

do you know the software unlocker = ?
its a small app that unlocks files.

I would agree with Gilge, I had the same problem and i had to use software unlocker to remote lock.  I fould out that my backup software was holding them.

Problem was found to be several corrupt password protected word and excel files. The user managing the files had done something with the files that hey were not sure of which caused the files to display 0bytes. I deleted all the 0byte files and the copy completed successfully.
