Moving mailboxes and Log Files

Hello, we are currently in the process of moving mailboxes from the 1SG to the 2SG as the 1SG is too big.

our disk setup is:
D:\Logs 2.5GB free
E:\Database 90GB free

Both of the SG's are located on the E;| however i didnt realise that moving mailboxes took up so much space on the logs drive, so now i still have about 20Gb worth of mailboxes to move however after moving the last mailbox which was 2GB, i have gone from 4.5Gb free to 2.5GB free.

Even through the mailboxes are on the same drive (but in different SG's) im still losing the equivilant amount of space on the d:\logs drive, will i get this space back after an offline defrag??? will i get that space back at all?

I have never noticed this before when moving mailboxes.
