Question

cannot open free/busy information for a shared calendar

Asked by: needsy

I'm am currently having a problem with a user trying to edit multiple shared calendars. She can see the calendars with all the existing entries, but when she tries to add an appointment she gets "Cannot open free/busy information ". out of about 20 calendars, she can't edit around 10, other people can edit the calendars fine. I've tried the outlook.exe /cleanfreebusy but that hasn't resolved it.
I did see another post on here and the solution was to delete and recreate the mailbox, but i can't do that with 10 of them! as they are used 24/7.
I have searched on here and tried all the suggestions for similar problems, like changing the permissions from author to reviewer then back to author. But this hasn't worked either.
Another suggestion was to change the permissions in AD to full mailbox access etc. although this will work it also gives them the abillity to view the inbox that person which i aslo can't allow.
Any other suggestion would be much appreciated.

Is she looking at a date thats more than 2 months in advance?

If possible the users have only published 2 months of free busy.
Also Possible those users have chosen not to display their free busy information.

This can easily be done if a user goes into
Tools>options>Calendar Options>Free busy Options

2 Months should be the default, but some users may change this to 0

If its Zero She will not be able to see the free busy.

If its set to 2, and shes looking for free busy information more than 2 months ahead. She will not be able to view the free busy...

in short, you will need to check this setting on each users Outlook Profile that she cannot view the free busy on

Hi Thanks for the reply.
All the Settings for free/busy are as default, and other people can see them fine.
It turns out that it was the sheer amount of people listed in the permissions.
When i removed the users, and grouped them before putting them back in the list (which shrank the list by over half) everyone was able to view them again!
It seems that there is a limit of how many members you can add to the permissions of a shared calendar.
(Something to keep in mind as i wasn't aware of any limit!!)
Thanks
