That is correct. We are using Exchange Server running on Windows Small Business Server 2003

Browse All TopicsHi,
We have a problem with receiving some emails. A number are coming through in MIME format. We have spoken to a developer who suggested in may be our AVG. It was also suggested that whatever flagged the message as SPAM has removed something that has broken the MIME format.
The version of AVG is "AVG Network Edition" with around 10 computers installed with the paid version.
I have included a snippet of the code found in the email.
If anybody could shed some light on how to fix this it would be much appreciated.

Okay
in this case, it will not be your AVG issue.
I have encountered issue like this before and hardly because of your AVG.
it usually because a different platform, like old linux speak to exchange server causing the issue.
if you can ... loook at the email header and look for the common for those who have corrupt the MIME.
the right version for AVG should be this one. http://www.avg.com/product
Also, check the message in OWA to see whether it appear correctly there. It might be Outlook do not appear the message correctly. but OWA appear correctly.
Ok, to update this question (I was just doing research) I have so far gone into my AVG program and stopped it from scanning the Exchange folder. This *appears* to have stopped the original MIME problem though now my peers are not receiving attachments in emails that should have them. The MIME email is now more legible also.
Anyway, like I said I am researching more. Especially the mail headers
@ demazter
AVG was set to not include Exchange Data files. I'm unsure of whether C:\WINDOWS\NTDS was done too.
I've just chatted to a user who has problems with MIME email. They tell me that while they no longer get a jumbled load of rubbish for an email, *now* they get readable text although no attachments are coming through.
Would this suggest that the latter of your two solutions i.e. Windows\nt.... is a remaining issue?
AVG was uninstalled and replaced with a different version tailored for SBS2003.
The problem still remained for the first couple of days and then fizzled out. We get a lot of emails through - some quite big - so it's possible there could have been a backlog. Using another EE question I researched IP blacklisting and found no substantial issues here and the mail host (email is downloaded to exchange via pop3) said they had no issues either.
I'm happy to award points now.
