That's not what I'm referring to. That is for the search order of the Address Book. This only controls which address list that you'll use when sending out email.
Thanks for your thoughts though.

Browse All TopicsHi,
We have a SBS 2008 installation with 4 users running Outlook 2007.
This client wants to move all their individual contacts into a shared Contacts folder we have created in the Public folders on the Exchange server. This is easy to do.
When any of the four users create a new contact, they want to prevent the new contact from being created in their local contacts folder - defaulting to the Shared Contacts instead. Is there any way to prevent new contacts from being created in the local Contacts folder - defaulting to the Shared Contacts instead.

Hi, AdvizeIT.
As Simon said, you cannot change the default folder locations in Outlook. However, there is a solution. Using a bit of code I can monitor the contacts folder and move any item created there to the public folder. The code would have to be installed on all computers. Note that this solution could end up creating duplicates. It is a workaround, not really a fix.

Go to tools > address book then tools > options to change default.
