IPN Backend

I'm looking for some information on IPN Backend servers to be configured within an Exchange environment.  Also whether having a bridgehead server within the IPN environment is a requirement.

I'm sure you'll likely need more info in order to answer my question, just tell me what you need and I'll provide what I can.

What is IPN?
When I Google that, this question comes up 4th in the results, so it is either something very new, very unusual or you are using an acronym for something that is actually known by something else completely.

my boss says IPN is Intermediate Processing Node.  I can't say I've ever heard of that terminology.  But it's going to be a "test" environment for IronPort traffic.  2 of these IPN servers, with an AD server and possibly BridgeHead...

Never heard of that either. Google doesn't throw anything of much use on that term.
Sounds like someone has been reading a management magazine and has picked up a buzz word.

What is it going to do specifically?

I'm glad you've never heard of it either b/c I was lost.

These 2 servers with the buzz word of IPN are going to have Exchange 2003 installed, then there will be a DC with AD and then a bridgehead server.  These are all ebing configured to test an IronPort configuration.  Running traffic from one side to another.

When the boss said IPN and told me his acronym I was like better get to EE.

Unless there is something special, I would just build a regular test environment and then configure it appropriately.

Sounds like a good plan.  The IPN terminology really thew me off.
