Question

Wrong Name in Exchange Mailbox

Asked by: DLockwood

OK - Here is a weird one for you. A Woman at my organization got married 2 years ago. I followed what I thought was normal procedures for changing her name and I have not had any problems since doing that. Everything has worked fine.

Now I have set up a Blackberry Enterprise Server and when I add her as a user, it shows her old name. Like this....

I select NewName from Active Directory.
Blackberry then shows an entry on the user screen like this....
/o=First Organization/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=OLDNAME

So, of course, we are never able to activate because Blackberry is looking for the wrong name.

Where is it getting the old name from and how do I fix it?

There are several different places for names in AD. Im thinking the issue your seeing is probably with the distinguished. When you renamed the account did you right click, rename. It should have brought up a window with all of the name fields that could be changed. Did you also modify her account name and pre windows 2000 account name?

If those all worked I would reccomend firing up ADSI edit and takeing a look at all of the name properties in there.

In alphabetical order they are
canonicalname, cn, displayname, distinguishedname, and name. You may also want to check givenname and sn to make sure they are right as well.

Where do I go in ADSI Edit to find what you are talking about?

by: xxdcmastPosted on 2009-10-21 at 15:32:12ID: 25629204

Adsi edit follows the same tree structure as you ou structure. You can drill down to the user right click and select properties. This will bring up thwir attributes
