Question

Exchange 2007 Email Disclaimer on Replies

Asked by: BSModlin

I recently created a Transport Rule to add a disclaimer to all email messages.  It is currently working, but I have one issue.  If I send an outbound email the disclaimer is added fine.  If I receive an email and reply to it the disclaimer is not added.

How can I get Exchange to add the disclaimer to replies as well as new emails?

I have just created a test rule and I did the following:

on the condition screen I selected from people and selected myself then clicked next then on the next screen I selected append disclaimer and added my text.

I tested this with both a replied e-mail from an old message and a new message and it went through with the disclaimer.

How do you have your rule configured?

by: BSModlinPosted on 2009-10-28 at 06:39:16ID: 25683069

Conditions Step 1 - from a member of a distribution list (I selected AllStaff Distro Group)

Action Step 1 - Append disclaimer text using font, size, color, etc......

Exceptions Step 1 - NONE selected

Can you change it to from user inside or outside the organisation?

Can you please be more descriptive... not sure what you want...Should I remove "From People" and check "From Users inside or outside"... If so do I select inside or outside?

Sorry uncheck From People and check From users inside or outside" and select inside.

Still not working.. Just to be clear... If I send an email from my personal Gmail account to my Exchange account, and then reply back.... The reply I receive in my Gmail box does NOT have the disclaimer....

OK, I have done exactly what you have described above.
Do you have any other rules? Are they of a higher priority than this one?  Are they doing something different?

Attached are screenshots of the rule configuration......

can you send me a test message? My address is in my profile.

Sounds a bit odd, I have just configured the exact same thing on my server and it worked perfectly, I didn't try it with gmail yet (lost password)

Ok, so I am an idiot and was looking at the bottom of the reply and not the bottom of the entire thread.  It is there.  Sorry.

Last question.... Now I notice that if I send an email to an internal user it appends the disclaimer (which is what I want). Then the user replies and it appends yet another disclaimer and now I have 2. Is this normal?

by: demazterPosted on 2009-10-28 at 07:34:10ID: 25683643

Unfortunately it is, it is appending it to the end of the e-mail message as a whole.
