Question

Is there a script available that will export the name of mailboxes to text file

Asked by: jahhan

Currently I am working in an Exchange 2003 native environment that houses 26 servers.  I would like to consolidate these servers into 6.  Mailboxes stored on these 6 servers will be determined by geographical region and mail size.  There are over 2000 mailboxes scattered over the 26 servers; therefore, I would like to have a printout of mailboxes that lists its size and location in the AD OU.  I am assuming a script will need to be created to achieve this task; however, I know very little about scripting.  Could someone provide me with the right coding or direct me to a site that lists examples on the task I am trying to perform?

I'd give PowerGUI a try.  I've had great luck with exporting Active Directory attributes using the AD powerpack.  The Exchange 2003 PowerPack may just be the thing for you:

willsdca,
will this powergui make any changes to my AD environment?  Or is it only used to extract information?

it will only query ad for information

It's a great tool for queries and for being able to export data to CSV and such.  You can use it to make changes (reset password, manage groups, etc...) but I've mainly just used it for reporting, since it can be a tad slow.

willsdca,
the installation only lists Exchange 2007.  Also, am i suppose to choose AD and Exchange or just Exchange?

by: willsdcaPosted on 2009-11-03 at 08:57:27ID: 25730972

Exchange and AD are pretty integrated so I believe you would need both components.  The application ships with Exchange 2007 connectivity, however there are optional PowerPacks you can download from the PowerGUI website, one of those listed under Communication is for Exchange 2003.

Exchange 2003 PowerPack - http://powergui.org/servlet/KbServlet/download/1956-102-2949/Exchange%202003.powerpack

How to install:
1. Download the Exchange 2003.powerpack file that is attached to this article.
2. Open the PowerGUI admin console.
3. Select File | PowerPack Management to open the PowerPack Management dialog.
4. Click on the Import button to import the PowerPack.
5. Using the dialog that just opened, browse to the location where you downloaded the Exchange 2003.powerpack file and select that file. Click on the Open button to import the PowerPack into PowerGUI.
