I have Exchange 2007. I have Activesync working perfect for mobile phone uses to get email. However I had a phone user come in who did not have active sync on his phone. We tried POP 3 and IMAP - and they did not work. I subsequently found that authentication for this is set to TLS required. Before I go ahead and enabe these 2 - by putting in basic authentication Id like to know what is the best way to handle this? - Should I be allowing all 3 methods. What is the difference - Why is there 3 ways? - Is there a downside to letting them use say POP3 or IMAP as apposed to Activesynch - Should I have everyone use Active synch?? as is now?? - Thanks if someone could give me answers

Well, with POP3 you will only get Inbox emails, no sych there whatsoever. If they send an email using their phone, it will no go to the exchange server and you will not be able to sync contacts and calendar. The same pretty much applied to IMAP with a little bit of additional advance features.
