Question

No Exchange 2007 NDR's from invalid internal recipients.

OK, searching high and wide to so far no thread hits this one - or I just don't understand.
New Exchange 2007 (single server).  If I send an email "internally" to an invalid "internal" address, an NDR is returned.  If I send an email "internally" to an invalid "external" address, an NDR is returned.  If an email is sent "externally" to an invalid "internal" address, NO NDR.
In the last example (NO NDR), all invalid address email is being sent to my account (member of Windows SBS Administrators) without an NDR returned to external sender.
What am I missing?
Note: External email is being collected with the Exchange POP3 Collector. Don't know if this has anything to do with it.

If external emails do not come to your exchange server directly, then this is probably happing at your 3rd party mail server. You probably have "Catch-All" feature enabled on that mail server, with you being the catch-all email address: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catch-all

Can't believe I overlooked that fact... it is doing what I told it to do - download all email from my catchall mailbox at my ISP and deliver to "my" Exchange mailbox.  
What threw me off was I used to use a third party POP3 collector and it would forward the email to Exchange by recipient SMTP address.
It was a late one last night and I couldn't see the forest through the trees!
