I want to leave an automatic "absence" email while away on tour (not possible on my email provider and no access while on tour)
I believe that I can do this by installing Exchange Server and then putting the absence message into Outlook...
I presume I'll have to leave my desktop running with Outlook open during my absence?
Or are there better ways?

You can set a OOF in Outlook 2007 for future OutOffOffice and let it run when the time comes and not much bothered that you have to set the very day when you have to go OutOffOffice, as we had to do this with outlook 2003
