Question

Outlook folders empty in Exchange mail account on iPhone 3GS

Asked by: WineGeek

I just rebuilt their SBS2003 box and when the owner re-created his Exchange mail account on his iPhone he's telling me the mail folders are empty. I'm still restoring some older copies of PST files for him but he should still be seeing at least what's already in his new Exchange account now, right?

anyone know a fix for this? Thanks.

So I believe he is able to sync but unable to view email. Did he also recreated his profile on iPhone. Also check his account from OWA.

He did say OWA was missing things that he could see in his Outlook on his Desktop but I'm still restoring older backup copies that might not be a problem much longer. I have not recreated his profile on his iPhone. Do I need to do that? When you say profile, do you mean his Exchange profile or something else?

yes try to delete the mail-account on the iPhone and recreate a new one

If you are restoring from .PST files, then local .OST file has to be populated forst, then this gets pushed to the server.

If OWA does not show the mail, then it has not reached the server yet, so it won't sync to the iPhone.

Wait for the "All Folders Up-To-Date" message in Outlook and then then iPhone should be able to sync the messages.

What you see in OWA is what is live on the server, so if it is not there, the iPhone cannot sync it!

are you sure you have new mail in the inbox ? by default the iphone only shows mail from the last 5 days for exchange accounts! this can be changed to longer from your settings -> email on your iphone.

Hope this helps.

I have his iPone in my hand right now. I've reacreated his profile and gone far beyond that by completely wiping his iPhone's contents and re-creating his Exchange mail account, still no go.

I can get his Exchange account VERIFIED ok but his Inbox is empty. I've tried setting the iPhone to show more than just 3 days of mail but that didn't do anything helpful.

When I hit the Refresh button in his Exchange Inbox I get the following error:

"Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server failed. [OK]"

Frustrating.....

Turns out they had to use the "Other" option when creating the mail account on the iPhone instead of using the Exchange account selection.

Do you know if that is because Activesync does not work?
