Can't Mount or Delete Public Folders Exchange 2010

I'm trying to replicate my public folders from our 2003 server to 2010. When I initiially installed the Mailbox Role, the installation didn't complete and i've been left with clearining out some entries in ADSI Edit. Nothing too spectacular and mostly from advice i've read on these boards.

I managed to create a new set of public folders but they won't mount. When i try to mount them I get this message

--------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Exchange Error
--------------------------------------------------------
Failed to mount database 'Public Folders 2010'.

When i try to delete them I get this message

What i'm trying to do is to get rid of any 2010 public folders I have and then replicate the 2003 ones we have over to a 2010 database

Thanks

I've tried this and it hasn't helped. We recieve a slightly different Event ID Error.

I can get rid of the entry by going to ADSI Edit and removing the reference to the public folder (there is no actual public folder database in my 2010 directort structure when I browse to the location) but I think if I do that, when I try to create the public folders again, it will produce the same error

That all goes through ok.

I've read a few different ways to replicate public folders. Creating the public folders as a database and then replicate it. Creating a new set of folders in the 2003 Exchange System Manager and then dragging the folders across.

What's the best way for me to do this?
Once you have created your public folder database in Exchange 2010 you can tell Exchange 2003 to replicate.  Check out step titled "Exchange Data Migration" in my article here: https://www.experts-exchange.com/articles/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Server/SBS_Small_Business_Server/Migrate-Windows-2003-with-Exchange-to-Small-Business-Server-2008.html

If i move all replicas, will the public folders be on the 2003 server and the 2010 server until I delete the 2003 public folders?

I'd like both set of public folders to be up at the same time initially.
Thanks Glen - appreciate your help.

Is there not a powershell get-set command I could use?

Or will the only public folders that it see's be the ones on it's on 2010 server and not the 2003 one?
