Reinstalling SBS 2008 but Keeping the Current Exchange Data
Hello All,
I have an SBS 2008 box that I would like to reinstall. (nothing works - totally messed)
However there are a few things that I need help on.
I would like to backup the exchange data in order to move it to the reinstalled sbs box.
Keep in mind - this is only for 4 exchange mailboxes.
If it's easier to just manually get each .pst I don't mind that.
If I go the manual route (each .pst) once I open a mailbox in the new server, can I just import that the same as say a pop .pst?
Also what will happen to my user profiles. All names will be the same, but I get the feeling that doesn't matter. If I connect the computers again to the 'new' (but same named) domain, will each user have multiple domain connections? (c:/users/local...)
If going the manual route is a bad idea and I should just grab the db's, please let me know how to do that. (I have a data partition on the sbs box that I have migrated (through the gui) all data to.
Basically, I want to start over, and all I want is the exchange data to come with me.
Thanks a lot.

Do I need to grab the OST's as well?
Thanks for the reply
Any idea on what might happen with the client pc's and the users domain info?
(I'll split this question if you don't know)

Great, Thanks
Below are the NK2 file locations. The default NK2 file is called Outlook.NK2
XP machines C:\documents and settings\%username%\applic
Vista/Win7 machines C:\Users\%username%\appdat
Once the new Exchange is loaded and ready to go, simply import the PST data.
For the NK2 simply replace the new file with the NK2 files that you backed up. Yes, they will have new profile paths due to the new domain.
