Problems emailing recreated mailbox

Hi

Running Exchange 2007 SP2/Outlook 2007 SP2.

We had a mailbox, redman.surname@domain.com, that was deleted. A week later, it was recreated.

Problem is, some people are having problems emailing this address now if they are using their cache entry in Outlook.

DSN is:

IMCEAEX-_O=DOMAIN_OU=EXCHANGE+20ADMINISTRATIVE+20GROUP+20+28FYDIBOHF23SPDLT+29_CN=RECIPIENTS_CN=redman+2Esurname@domain.com
#550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.ExRecipNotFound; not found ##

I have created the new mailbox on exactly the same store it was on before.

Reading article here (http://www.simple-talk.com/content/print.aspx?article=628), I need to add the X.500 address of the old mailbox to as an X.500 to the new mailbox.

But what is the X.500 address here I need to add?

if outlook is useing the saved/auto fill for the user, and you created a new user it is not going to work. you need to send to the email address or try taking it out of the address book from exchange
The issue is the local Outlook cache, located in a file called Outlook.nk2 on the client machines.  It caches more information that just the autofill part you see.

You can delete the file, but this will wipe all of the user's auto-fill for Outlook

Also, you can begin typing the email address, and when it starts to autofill with that user, press delete.  This will delete it from the cache.

This is a per user issue so you'll have to do it with every Outlook client.

Thanks for the replies, but can't I add the old X.500 address to the new mailbox? That will fix it too?
From the article, that might work.    It's going to be a little work to track down the old address.  You'd need an email it seems from the sender before the new mailbox was created, and use the MAPI editor to see the X.500 address, then add this to the new mailbox.
Do you know why the old X.500 address is not displayed in the DSN?

And, in terms of using the MAPI Editor, if I gave myself access to the other user's mailbox and added his mailbox to my Outlook profile, do I check a Sent Item that was sent to that old address?

Or alternatively instruct them on how to delete that record from their cache.  Depends on your user base, though.
