change Active sync URL
By default, my active sync URL is https://webmail.mydomain.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
Is this the address that iPhones/other smartphones will use in their settings, or just webmail.mydomain.com ??
If so can I modify this? or do i need to?

The devices will set their server to webmail.mydomain.com via autodiscover or you can type it in manually. If typing in manual names then you can use any externally resolvable name you like e.g. Mobile as long as it resolves to the public ip of your CAS and is also listed on your cert (if you want SSL to work = which is highly recommended)
Here is a very Great Article from Alan.

all tests well....except one issue.
I saw this lately and don't quite remember where to fix it.
The users that were migrated from 2003 to 2010 cannot get the active sync.
I believe this to be the 'inherit permission' problem.. where do i change that again?

no problem...thanks for all your help.
Now that I'm mostly up and running (still have configuration tasks) I will need a solid backup/recovery plan...I don't have enterprise edition servers so can't go with DAGs.

Have you tried that Feb 2011 hotfix on your Outlook clients to see if it sorts your Autodiscover issue out?
BTW - for DAG, you need Enterprise version of Windows 2008 for the clustering components, but don't need Exchange 2010 enterprise. It is a pity MS decided to get rid of LCR...
