Login dialog box pops up when I launch Outlook 2007 against Exchange 2007 on SBS 2008

I have an SBS 2008 network with Exchange 2007 on the server. I have some users with Office 2003 and some with Office 2007. Office 2003 (and Outlook 2003) work just fine but when the users with Office 2007 launch Outlook 2007, they get a login dialog box that says Welcome to remote.domainname.com, the external Internet DNS name of the server, and wants a username and password. Entering the user's login credentials or even the administrators credentials just causes the dialog box to pop back up again.

The users can cancel the dialgo box and keep working in Outlook 2007 but it pops back up every so many minutes all day long. I can't figure out why this is popping up. The Exchange account was set up referencing the internal domain server name, main.domainname.local, not the external remote.domainname.com.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

Outlook 2003 does not have autodiscover feature
but Outlook 2007 has those

its trying to authentecate to autodiscover Virtual directory and thats the reason u get many pops ups in 2007

Autodiscover virtual directory must have Basic and Integrated Authentication.

check whether u have those in the IIS manager in CAS server

aveenkumare_sp - When I view the permissions in IIS7 for the autodiscovery virtual directory, it has basic and Windows Authentication enabled.

MegaNuk3 - Is there a place that shows the SP level currently installed in the EMC or a command  I can use to display the verison in EMC? I see that I am at verison 8.1 build 240.6 but nothing about what service pack is installed.
You are on Service Pack1. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/exchange-server-and-update-rollups-builds-numbers.aspx

A lot of prompt issues were fixed in SP2, but I advise you to go to SP3 as that has been out for almost a year now.

Downloading now. I will keep you posted
Do you use a self signed cert or a 3rd party one? Just be aware that SP3 might pit the self signed one back - I have seen that happen a few times.
Pit  = put

Any joy with SP3?
