How do I convert a .ost file (Microsoft exchange server) to Outlook 2010?
Hi,
I have a Microsoft Exchange Server file .ost that I need to convert to Microsoft Outlook 2010 file .pst or similar format that outlook 2010 can read and save. I want to see if there is a free solution or if there is not one. It is a one time thing and don't want to pay a software that I will only use once. Thank for any help

"I check that thread and no real solution as it is in the wrong forum. "
I do not understand that???? I gave you two links to download trial programs to convert .ost to .pst..
http://www.osttopstconvert.com/

I thought the last link
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vsto/thread/82068a70-841a-420f-a361-c6d545194f7d might be of interest to you. If not, just ignore it.

I apologize jcimarron for the misunderstanding. I was only commenting on the last link.
pinkstar--No problem. I just wanted to be sure you will try the two links with free trial offers.
Open the OST in outlook2010.
File--Open--Export to a file--Outlook data file (.pst)
Select the top most row (your mailbox)--(check "include subfolders")--provide the name/path to create PST--Finish.
This will save all the OST info (mails, contacts, calendar, tasks.......) to the PST that you create.
Hope this helps.

If you can still access the contents in the .OST file, then just in your Outlook:
1. Create a new PST file.
2. Copy all the contents in OST file to the PST file. Then you will get a convereted PST file.
If you cannot access the OST file contents, then you can use OST to PST conversion tools, below is a list of them:
http://www.datanumen.com/aexr/compare.htm
In the list, "OST2PST" is a free tool. You can first try it. Some other tools are relatively cheaper and provide a free trial so you can also try them.

Thank you all. Mody2579, I have a question about opening the OST in Outlook 2010. I only have the .ost file in my thumbdrive. I don't have it in outlook, so how do I open it in outlook?
hmmm.. haven't tried this one yet.
Create a new Profile or user, once the settings is load close outlook.
rename the .ost file you want to open, replace the .ost that was created earlier.
Let us know if its possible.

Hello pinkstar
WIth original Outlook profile that created the OST file, the OST file can not be accessed.
As of now there is no free tool that can convert OST to PST file for free. If you still want some reference the i will suggest you the tool at http://www.convert-osttopst.com try their demo version. But remember this is not free. The demo version will only preview the convertible items in full, but to save them in PST file you need to have the full license.

If you can open the OST file in off-line mode, you can then create a PST and simply copy the contents of the OST over to the PST. The trick here is opening the OST at all since it is typically tied to a specific profile or Exchange Server account settings. If that account is not available, then you may not be able to open the OST.
However, the tool below may be of help (convert OST to PST) hope this helps.

A free tool to view OST files. I am sorry, I am not sure I you can recover the mails using this application. (Hope it does)

Thank you everyone, I tried the clickzone.net and did the one time deal. That was the cheapest, only $15 for 2G of memory conversion. So, I am now up and running again. Thank you everyone here for the help.
pinkstar--You are welcome!
