Exch 2003, emails not receiving correctly

Hi all,

I have a problem now when i receiving emails from outside the company. here is what i know now:

emails sent and received inside network work fine
outgoing emails sent work fine
incoming emails received don't work, but i can see the traffic hanging out in the firewall and server is not accepting the connection, unsure how to check on server if there is a connection that is active
I do get notifications on phone when emails are sent, but i cant send them from phone inside or outside the network wifi or 4G.

i deleted the smtp connector and recreated basic connector.

restarted everything on network except 8 port dumb switch, maybe the issue?

i have internet on all computer and alias are all intact.

dns records are unchanged dns servers are still the same

no windows updates, nor major hardware changes

mxtoolbox is OK, canyouseeme.org is OK.

- TCP 25 is open on your firewall and redirected on NAT (if required) to your Exchange server
Yes, its open
- TCP 25 is open on your server (netstat -an)
i see the connection to the server on 25, and random outgoing
- You can telnet from inside to your exchange server TCP 25 and get response (Exchange service may be down if can not connect)
from inside i have no issue sending telnet email
- You can telnet from outside to your exchange server TCP 25 and get response (review your firewall config, may be blocked by your firewall or your ISP).
oh god, my isp was a nightmare, i was waiting to give blood sample....
- You can receive anonymous emails (this discards missconfigured smtp)
not 100% sure if i know honestly
- You have got on your public DNS mail host and MX record pointing to your mailserver.
hasnt changed for years..... like 10+, but i did check after i found my black book of passwords

Thanks much Drashiel for the iron out the details, in fact even thou i have internet and i can hit the webpages and telnet, ping, and all that, still no emails.

so i did a quick test to the eth4 on the server and confirgured my modem to forward the traffic and my phone and computer lite up like a blazing saddle!

turns out a bad code was causing the connection to stay open, wide open, and never received the emails.

scratch one off the board for not assuming everything works.....

Still have not receiving emails?

Try this sequence and tell me about that happens when you try to do:

Telnet from inside to your exchange server on 25 tcp.

your server response with banner> input "hello test.org"
your server response 250 > input "mail from test@test.org"
your server response 250 > input "rcpt to yourmailaddress@yourdomain.com"
your server response 250 > input "data" and enter
your server response 354 > input "." and enter
your server response 250 > input "quit"

You must to receive a test email on your mailbox.

Thanks for the info, in fact the server is running great, i cant say the same for the UTM i have in place, unfortunately i don't know a lot about Linux. once i temporarily bypassed the UTM and hooked directly into modem and assigned 25 and 443 to forward a boat load of emails flooded in. in the end i had to scratch install the UTM again because i was unsure of the state it was in. no biggie really.

btw, the telnet above worked just fine, i know i could telnet to it just never really sat down and tried.
