Exchange Server reboot

Hi,

Microsoft releases windows updates every month and they require server reboot.

How often do you guys reboot Exchange server? our Exchange is on Win Server 2008 DC.

We have rebooted the server once a month as the security updates always require server reboot.

I am also concerned about rebooting server might cause some issues regrading hardware.

Please share your thoughts.

Reboot monthly based off change control for patching / Exchange patching. If the server is healthy, and you know there are no known hardware issues then rebooting is perfectly safe.

Just dont cut the power to it :) that could.. actually most likely would cause some issues.

I agreed with Adam's comment totally.

Reboot has to be done because of an OS/software update, a critical software failure which cannot be recovered via other methods, hardware upgrade/replacement or other activity that cannot happen without a restart.
