Exchange 2010, Internal,external traffic
Hi expert,
we have an AD(server1,VM),Exchange(se rver1,VM) and Mail Marshal STMP(server2) in datacenter,
all the exchange client configured as outlook anywhere, there are about 75 users outlook client and each users have a mobile phone
and configured with active sync.
previously, we having an issue, the connection keep dropping, outlook client intermittently show disconnect even RDP to server as well,
we find out the root cause eventually, this is because all the servers are plug-into the CISCO 5505 firewall, and the internal traffic cause the connection drop
we add-in a gigabyte switch to resolve the issue, and the connection has been smooth for 2 months.
Right now, the same problem occurred, but it not so critical as last time, outlook client intermittently email might not able to send out, even for few kb email.
but after reboot the user pc, the email will sent out eventually.
my questions is, what might be the cause of this issue? it is because of the firewall with throughput of 100mb?
please advise

Hi,
There is no error in event logs, default policy for active syncs and RPC,
my guts feeling is more on network issue.
Thanks

Needs a few more details about your exchange VM.
what version of the VM ESXI /Vcenter version you are using? is it 5.5 or 5.1?
Is your exchange stored on a storage and if so, the connectivity is over i Sci or FCO?
have yo checked the IOPs of your storage?
The network for your exchange VM, is it E1000 or VMXNET 3?
Also mention the version of the VMware tools installed on the exchange.

sorry for not updating the question here.
after some checking, we change the local ISP DNS to google dns, the issue resolved.
i personally think that the local ISP DNS have intermittent problem to resolve the email domain.
thanks for the expert here.

So your problem just got solved after changing "ISP DNS to google dns"? in your AD DNS "Forwarders?
Needs a better clarification for the solution mentioned by patcheah
