The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Cannot Activate Blackberry Device to Domino Server.

Tags: blackberry
I recently setup a Blackberry 4.1.3 server which will communicate with a Domino 7.02 server.  Currently there is only one user who will utilize this server.  I was able to successfully configure the Blackberry server, however, in the eventvwr log, I receive the following event id below:
Event Type:      Warning
Event Source:      BlackBerry Messaging Agent Blackberry-INT
Event Category:      None
Event ID:      20000
Date:            4/19/2007
Time:            9:56:38 AM
User:            N/A
Computer:      Blackberry-INT
Description:
{David X/consulting} HandleKeyGenCommand: ignoring KeyGen packet because current transaction is in progress

Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      BlackBerry Messaging Agent Blackberry-INT
Event Category:      None
Event ID:      10570
Date:            4/19/2007
Time:            9:36:47 AM
User:            N/A
Computer:      Blackberry-INT
Description:
*** Activation *** password is empty (UserConfig.KeyGenPassword)

This event is being logged when I generate a password and email the password to the Lotus Notes user mailbox.  The user proceeds to modify the blackberry to include the email address.  Once configured the screen says that it is initializing.  This screen is in place for about 10 minutes until it times out.
I checked the Domino servers notes log to get a better picture at what is working in the background:
04/19/2007 12:40:47 PM  {David x/consulting} {David x/consulting} *** Activation *** transaction aborted.
04/19/2007 12:40:48 PM  Begin CD to MIME Conversion(Process: Router (00000500:00000005), Database: D:\Lotus\data\mail.box, Note: 00000946)
04/19/2007 12:40:48 PM  End CD to MIME Conversion(Process: Router (00000500:00000005), Database: D:\Lotus\data\mail.box, Note: 00000946)
04/19/2007 12:40:48 PM  Router: Transferred 1 messages to ETP1105.ETP.NA.BLACKBERRY.NET (host ETP1105.ETP.NA.BLACKBERRY.NET) via SMTP
04/19/2007 12:41:04 PM  BES pending count 0, sent 0, queued 0

I removed the option to only allow certain smartphones access.  In addition, I regenerated a new password so the device could connect.  Unfortunately, none of these changes are remedies to my problem.

1) It is easiest to do this via the BB desktop manager if you are new to BES.

2) You might also try to remove and re-add teh user into the BES, and then use the  Service access menu to set an activation password.

You also need to have an address in the Internet field of the person doc and that is what is used in the wireless Enterprise activation, alon with the password from the 2.

I hope this helps !

so the user should try to activate using a USB device connected to his pc and launch the BB desktop manager?

es.

t is best to first get the Destop manager working.

It sometimes has isues finding he BES server.

When it says online in the status bar, then plug in the BB device, it will ask to generate a new key via the mouse, and then it will start activating.

In addition, you need to make sure that the BB devce antenna is turned on and that all the BES services ( via the provider of the BB device ) are activated and available. Usually there are Letters next to the antenna strength.
for nextell devices, NXTL must all be upper case.

I hope this helps !

I connected the blackberry device using a USB cable to a laptop configured with Desktop Manager; however, I still cannot connect the client to the server.

The steps you pointed out resolved my problem with connecting to the BB server; however, I am now receiving another error message when sending off a message from the Blackberry.  Whenever I try to submit a message I receive Message Status: Service Blocked.

That is  probably an issue for your Servce provider. They have not activated all the required services.

I hope this helps !

It seem as though I am able to successfully send a message from the Blackberry Manager program using the PIN number, but not the Email option.  Whenever I send a message from the email option I the message is set as pending.  The good news is that the message is sent to the Lotus Notes client.

Since this is a TMobile blackberry phone do I have to call tmobile and inform them of the error message?

I would start there, yes.

Make sure the phone has the Blackberry Enterprise Service loaded (BES) from  your mobile service provider...
