The agent used to be fine, and no code modification. The agent runs daily and the problem occurs the 4th day after we upgraded to Domino 7.0.4.

First of all, you have to make sure that the serverid didnt expire yet or you can recertify it and in order to recetify it you must have either Author access to the Domino directory and the ServerModifier role assigned or Editor access to the directory. In addition, you must have Author access or greater to the certification log...

Ah. Well, as far as I can tell, judging from the comments I've read, 7.0.4 is not the best of releases. The practical solution probably is to downgrade to 7.0.3, which is a very stable release. What release did you have before you upgraded??
If there's already a fix in 7.0.4 for this particular problem I don't know. You could try to find it, but downgrading is probably faster.
Problem in 7.02 is deleted documents suddenly appear get restored by server, whereas the database does not replicated to other server or local replica.
In 7.03, our domino get crashed every time the server serves high number or emails sent/received.
We almost restart our domino every day due to crashed.
Anyway, the agent looks OK today, it already run without the error above.

Solution for the strange message: wait for FP1, or FP2. Most likely, %a ... is a C or Java printf-statement with a language-dependent part, where the parameter is missing in the call. The complete message might be: "Something is wrong, please see the Certification Log".
To make your agent running again, I'd suggest indeed to go back to an earlier Domino release (if indeed you didn't modify anything else). Most likely, the other problems you had with that release can be solved more easily. Or upgrade to R8.5.
If you want to continue to work with 7.0.4, we'd have to guess what the message really means. Maybe you can check the certlog.nsf database, to see if there's anything mentioned there. The weird thing is that you say that the agent wasn't changed, the database's ACL wasn't changed, and the settings on the server are also still the same.
What you could verify:
- the person who signed the agent is still in the NAB?
- and in the ACL? with sufficient rights?
- does he have agent execution rights?
- does the agent have the correct security settings?
- is there message in the Miscellaneous section of the log.nsf database that's related to this issue?
