I need to keep a HTML link in lotus notes; my Colleagues say Ctrl +E would activate a HTML link or a button can be created, I need some advice on how to keep a link active in Lotus notes email or calendar

As mentioned you can also create a button using the same way Create -> Hotspot -> button . However, what is the lotus notes version you are using ???
if you are using Lotus notes 8.5 you can easily do the following :
OPEN ===> Internet Explorer Links which will get all the link added to the IE favorit of the OS .

Select the text you would like to make a Hyperlink, then click on Create -> Hotspot -> Link Hotspot... and fill in the URL in the Value field.
