Recipients receiving emails without attachments

Asked by macpeople in Email Clients, Mdaemon, Apple Software

Hi EE, I'm a first time poster here - thanks in advance for your time and advice!

I'll sum up my issues as best as possible, and provide as much information as I can.

To start here's our environment:

Server: - Windows Server 2003 for Small Business, MDaemon, SonicWall
Workstations: - Vista SP1, Outlook 2007, MDaemon Outlook Connector

To summarise our issue:

- Certain recipients (small percentage) receive emails from our staff without attachments - to confirm, the emails do arrive but WITHOUT attachments.

- From what I can gather so far, most of these recipients are either in an Apple environment (workstations and server) or using some sort of webmail client, e.g. mac.com

- These emails are sent in HTML format (not RTF), I am working on getting some tests done and more information in this regard (having plain text emails sent with attachments)

- Our IT Manager has made various changes and updates to our firewall and MDaemon server software including settings/configuration with no success to date

I am working on gathering specific information to assist for this question. I'll do my best to get as much information as possible for any questions that are asked. I'll do my best to get more and definivite information from the client end.

Some of my own research and thoughts:

- Initial thought was that MDaemon isn't playing nice with other email servers/clients

- During my research I came across articles in regards to certain email clients not being able to intepret emails sent from Outlook because of Word 2007 being the default editor (I believe it's the ONLY option, without uninstalling Word 2007 which isn't an option). So far, this seems to be the only logical cause to me in regards to the particular situation, but I can't can't prove it or find a definitive solution.

- I considered this could be an issue with the recipients end of the bargain, but in light of the fact that these recipients have received emails with attachments with no issues for quite some time, and there have been no updates/patches/fixes done to any part of environtment here I ruled this one out, as least for now.

I'll award 500 points to anyone who can solve my problem guaranteed! This has been going on too long without a solution.
