We are receiving mail from our ISP on a Windows 2003 SP2 IIS6 server. This server has Antigen 9 on it for spam filtering. This server is sending it to an exchange 2003 organization (internal). Since a few days the messages in the queue are getting very high. Our mail is send trough smarthosts on this server, no other option is possible due firewall restrictions.
On a normal day we got around 600.000 messages trough this server, but bow we have leased a spam filter by our ISP so the mail dropped to a 300.000 messages a day.
Now we have a problem with getting our queue's empty. Every day we have a average queue length of 10-15000 messages. There are spam and normal messages in the queue which can and cannot be delivered but remains in the queue for hours.
Whenever putting the mails in the pickup dir the messages are processed in a few minutes and we have a empty queue. After that the queue is building up again. With a iisreset the queue is also handled and is empty in a few minutes.
When sending mail trough this server, the normal mail is delivered in a few seconds, so whenever the queue is filling up normal message delivery is working.
I've tried already with changing the delivery times, but this does not seem to speed up the delivery.
Any help or pointers are appreciated!
